Volvo Targets Fleet Managers in Corporate Sales Push

Volvo is stepping up its presence in the corporate sales sector this year by running a series of ride and drive events during May and June. Volvo aims to appear on more company car choice lists by giving over 500 fleet managers the chance to try out the latest range of cars and demonstrate that there's a model to appeal to every grade of company car driver.

'Time after time we find that, as soon as a fleet manager or company car driver gets behind the wheel of one of our cars, they either add it to their car choice list or order it as their next company car,' explained Ian Rendle, Corporate Sales Manager of Volvo Cars UK.

'One of our key strategies in 2003 is to get more people behind the wheel of a Volvo for the first time as we are confident this experience will quickly turn into increased fleet sales. This regional tour will help accelerate this effort,' he added.

The five-stop tour is travelling around the UK from Berkshire and Essex to Northumberland and Lancashire - over the next month1. The award-winning Volvo XC90 SUV, along with the recently revised Volvo S80 model and various other models including Bi-Fuel variants, are available for test drive. The high-performance new Volvo R model is also on display, giving fleet managers a first glimpse of the 300bhp saloon and estate models which are due to hit the showrooms in July.

In 2002 Volvo achieved fleet sales of 21,883, which accounted for more than 50% of its total sales and, with the recent and imminent new car models, Volvo is predicting further fleet growth in 2003.
